Registration will be performed online by using a had hoc form. Online payment is also proposed, via the University of Geneva payment system.

Please note:

  • attendance of this meeting is limited to 150 persons, including invited speakers, and registration will be closed when this quota is reached,
  • there is no guaranteed room reservation for registrations received after the deadline,
  • the eventual accompanying non-participant person should not register.

We greatly encourage all participants to share a room.

In case of room sharing please indicate in the registration form if you have roommate preference (friend or colleague who also attends), or if you will share the room with an accompanying non-participant person. If you need a roommate but do not request any, we will match you with a roommate based on your gender and age, that you will also indicate in the form.

Participants will be informed about their hotel’s name at mid-August.

Academic - Standard single room: CHF 850

Accompanying person (double room): CHF 450

Registration fee includes:

  • admission to lectures and poster sessions,
  • course materials, abstract book, meeting bag,
  • use of meeting room dedicated to poster sessions and poster-mounting kits,
  • dinners and lunches during the conference,
  • accomodation for 4 nights from September 1 to 5, breakfast included,
  • welcome dinner (September 1), gala dinner (September 4), coffee breaks, wine and cheese during poster sessions,
  • excursion.
Registration fee for accompanying person includes:
  • accommodation for 4 nights in double room shared with the participant,
  • dinner (September 2),
  • welcome dinner (September 1) and gala dinner (September 4),
  • excursion.
Please note:
  • registration fee does not include travel to Switzerland,
  • invited speakers are exempt from registration charges, except for possible accompanying (non-participant) person,
  • young scientists who are granted a fellowship should not pay the registration fee,
  • young scientists who are granted a fellowship will have to share a room and may also suggest a colleague name on the registration form,
  • possibility is given to register without accomodation at lower price.
  • the eventual accompanying (non-participant) person should not register,
  • the participant indicating an accompanying person during registration is required to pay the fee for this person (CHF 450) in addition to his ⁄ her own fee.

We propose 3 methods of payment.
  1. Secured online payment including VISA, MasterCard, American Express, PostFinance, PayPal and Paysafecard. Payment should be made in full (including bank charges) upon submission of the registration.

    Once you have performed your online registration please arrange the payment of your registration fee.

    Please note:

    • indicate the name of the conference (ECF2013) as a comment when making the transfer,
    • bank charges have to be paid by the participants.

  3. For participants from the University of Geneva only: internal transfer through the “etiquette” system. Once you have performed your online registration please arrange the payment of your registration fee.

We accept cancellation only by email sent to

100% refund is only possible if registration is cancelled before June 30, 2013.

After this date:
  • for cancellation received until July 31, 2013, 50% of the registration fee will be charged,
  • in case of cancellation until August 15, 2013, 75% of the registration fee will be charged,
  • in case of cancellation after August 15, 2013, no refund will be available.

All participants are invited to submit abstracts of their recent work. From these abstracts the chairs and organizers will select short oral presentations and submitters will be notified about this decision at the end of July 2013. Invited speakers should also provide an abstract of their presentation, since all abstracts will be reproduced and handed out at the meeting.

  • all abstracts should be in English, processed as Microsoft Word document and saved as DOC, DOCX or PDF file,
  • abstracts should be composed according to the following template (PDF, 1 page, 5.75 KB),
  • the length of the abstract body is limited to 250 words,
  • abstracts should be saved using the first author’s last name as file name (firstauthor_abs.doc),
  • abstract files should be uploaded during registration.

Selected abstract submitters will be invited to give a 10 minutes oral presentation.

Poster presenters are requested to mount their posters on the morning of September 2nd, as well as to be present at their posters during the poster session that they will be assigned to.

Please note:
  • poster boards are 90 cm wide and 140 cm tall (suitable for A0), portrait orientation.

We hope to be able to allocate 20 fellowships to cover registration expenses for young graduate and post-graduate researchers.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • be no more of 35 years old at the time of application,
  • be presenting an abstract at this meeting.
If you think to be eligible for one of these fellowships and would like to apply, download these guidelines (PDF, 1 page, 73.6 KB) and follow the instructions. Notice of fellowship allocation will be given by June 25, 2013.

  • please register online after receiving the answer by the organizers,
  • due to logistics reasons you will be asked to send your abstract again during registration (upload).

Registration for the excursions (Tuesday, September 3, afternoon) and the gala dinner (Wednesday, September 4, evening) will be requested in the form. This registration includes the eventual accompanying (non-participant) person.

Please note:
  • should your eventual accompanying person not attend the excursion and ⁄ or the gala dinner along with you, please precise it in the “Remarks” field.

  • visit of the village and castle of Gruyères,
  • guided tour of Fribourg.
